American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics
Mission: To advance the arts, sciences, and technology of aeronautics and astronautics, and to promote the professionalism of those engaged in these pursuits.
The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) is an Aerospace Engineering organization here at CSULB providing members with the opportunity to engage in activities related but not limited to Aerospace Engineering. This includes opportunities to meet professionals who currently work or have worked in the field of aerospace engineering, tour facilities involved in engineering work, and participate in aerospace engineering projects throughout the academic year. AIAA provides guest speakers and workshops, presented from various engineering professionals from Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, SpaceX, and many more aerospace companies. We invite guest speakers to talk in our General Body Meetings to present their field of work, or maybe even their path as an engineer. Students can ask questions about their work, company, and even career skills to increase their knowledge in aerospace and develop their career skills and networking, which are all really important aspects when students are looking for internships and full-time jobs. In addition, AIAA provides industry tours to students. In previous semesters, we have to tours from Northrop Grumman, Boeing, Virgin Orbit, JPL, and more. When students come to these tours, they learn a lot more in the company and experience the amazing projects they work on. The organization has two student team projects: Experimental Sounding Rocket Association (ESRA) and Long Beach Aviation (LBA), where students can gain project and teamwork experience. In addition to the professional development, networking, and project experience one can attain from being a member of AIAA CSULB, it is also a place where students can come together to share their passion for aerospace and engineering.
To advance the arts, sciences, and technology of aeronautics and astronautics, and to promote the professionalism of those engaged in these pursuits.
